Hifumi Izanami, a.k.a. GIGOLO, is a host and the second member of Matenrō.
Profile[]
A host who works at the "Fragrance" host club in Shinjuku, Hifumi radiates confidence and charisma at first sight. However, despite the impression that his gregarious nature and carefree tone gives off, Hifumi is in actuality completely terrified of women. He became a host in attempts to conquer his fear, and after much toil, he learned to transform himself into a womanizer once he dons his suit.
Hifumi is extremely dexterous and has a wide range of hobbies ranging from the indoor to the outdoor.
He and Doppo have known each other since they were in elementary school, and Hifumi frequently cooks for him and also mends his torn suits. The two share an apartment in Shinjuku.
Appearance[]
Hifumi has blonde hair with green undersides and gold-colored eyes. He wears earrings shaped like yellow roses.
Hifumi wears a black shirt, grey waistcoat, black pants and brown shoes. His grey suit jacket aids with his fear of women. He wears many accessories: a silver belt, multiple belt chains (one with a normal chain, and another with Matenrō’s crosses), a yellow rose in his suit jacket breast pocket, two necklaces (one with a Matenro cross and one with a red pendant), and rings on both his index fingers, pinky and thumb.
Hifumi’s Hypnosis Mic has a diamond and gold body with “GIGOLO” written on it, and the windscreen looks like a disco ball. Hifumi’s speaker takes the form of gold roses with speakers inside and a disco ball.
Personality[]
Out of his suit Hifumi has a bubbly and energetic personality, which can also be noted from his distinct way of talking and referring to other people, as he has a habit of making up affectionate nicknames for others. He likes spending time indulging in his hobbies such as fishing with his teammates and cooking for them. His high energy demeanor is often a source of annoyance for his best friend and roommate Doppo, who often gets dragged along with him.
Although it could seem like his peppy and careless attitude is his most defining characteristic, Hifumi is shown to be responsible and very kind-hearted even towards those who have wronged him. He takes it upon himself to clean up his shared apartment with Doppo and cook for him every day. Hifumi will stand up for what’s right and show a lot of sympathy towards people around him. However, Hifumi is known to oftentimes blurt out words without thinking and act impulsively, which causes many issues where Doppo has to apologize on Hifumi's behalf. Without his suit, Hifumi is deeply terrified of women. Even glancing at a woman's face will trigger his traumatic memories. He will run and hide from them and seek his teammates' help, latching and jumping on anything to get away. His phobia also applies to young girls, as shown his terror around Asunaro Bojo.
Everything changes when Hifumi puts on his suit jacket, however. Switching into what he calles "Host mode", his speech pattern, demeanor, and way of addressing people and situations is totally different, becoming much more sophisticated and polite. Most importantly, however, his fear of women is suppressed, rather turning him into a total womanizer who is able to win over almost every woman and man he speaks to. Essentially, he becomes the epitome of a handsome, prince-like host, with fancy, flirtatious speech and a charming personality. Despite this helping with his phobia, he prefers to use it as little as possible, even mentioning taking back alleyways to avoid having to use it.

Etymology[]
- Hifumi means "one" (一) (hi), "two" (二) (fu) and "three" (三) (mi).
- Following this theme, his MC name is GIGOLO, which can be read as "shi go ro", or 4 5 6.
- Izanami is written "that one" (伊) (i), "large, powerful, stout, thick" (弉) (za) and "red, tan" (冉) (nami).
- In Japanese mythology, Izanami is the female creator goddess who gave birth to the islands of Japan.

- Hifumi likes his own cooking and dislikes frozen food.
- He usually uses "orecchi" or "ore" to refer to himself, but in host mode he switches to "boku".
- Hifumi usually refers to most people with nicknames regardless of how close they are, but in host mode he drops the nicknames entirely and refers to others more politely. (ex. "Doppochin" becomes "Doppo-kun")
