Trivia

  • Wolves are often associated with this group, as the name "Matenro" contains the kanji character for "the wolf".
  • "Matenro" with mostly different kanji (摩天楼) means "skyscraper", which would fit with the fact Shinjuku has some of the tallest skyscrapers in Japan.
  • Each of the members' surnames contains motifs associated with religion and mythological goddesses from Japanese mythology.
    • Jinguji means "heavenly temple/shrine".
    • Izanami is the name of a Japanese Shinto goddess of creation.
    • Kannon (Guan Yin in Chinese) is a Bodhisattva goddess associated with Mahayana Buddhism in East Asia.
    • The name "Matenro" itself contains the character for "heaven".
  • All of the members wear silver crosses on their outfits. They can be found at the buttons of Jakurai's shirt, on Hifumi's belt, and on Doppo's tie clip.
  • Shinjuku is a commercial and administrative centre, having one of the busiest railway stations in the world. Within it, it houses the red-light district of Kabukichō where there are many host clubs.
