Backstory Overview[]

Early Life[]

Saburo and his brothers, Ichiro Yamada and Jiro Yamada, grew up in Ikebukuro’s war orphanage, directed by Tamotsu Ando. They lived a happy life there, but at school, Jiro and Saburo were getting bullied by a boy in Jiro’s class, younger Samejima, for being orphans. At the start, Saburo tried to be bold and stand up against younger Samejima, but this only resulted in Jiro getting into a fight to protect him. The next day, younger Samejima approached Jiro and Saburo with older Samejima, who beat Jiro up and demanded that he bring money the day after that. Saburo almost told Ichiro what was happening, but ultimately didn't and began to ask his older brother for money in an attempt to prevent more fighting. This cycle continued, with Jiro getting into fights and Saburo handing over money daily, and they continued to lie to Ichiro, telling him they were okay. One day, Jiro and Saburo walked in on Ichiro beating up Tamotsu, demanding money from him with older Samejima at his side. Betrayed, the two ran to the director’s side to protect him.

Early H Age[]

Three years later, Jiro and Saburo still resented Ichiro because he didn't stop working as a debt collector. Not long later, he and Saburo were kidnapped by their new orphanage director, Gencho Hosen. They were held in the Ikebukuro Sunset building alongside Samatoki Aohitsugi’s sister Nemu Aohitsugi by Stairway to Heaven, which Gencho was revealed to be working with. The leader of Stairway to Heaven, Mozuku Shito, and Gencho killed several people and revealed that Gencho was planning on “selling” Jiro and Saburo when they reached the right age. Jiro tried to comfort Saburo, but he was also very scared. That's when Nemu assured Jiro that Ichiro would probably come to save him. Jiro didn't believe it, but he was proven wrong when Ichiro and Samatoki, soon followed by Ramuda Amemura and Jakurai Jinguji from Kujaku Posse, came to their rescue and defeated Mozuku and Gencho.

After the terrorist attack, Ichiro, Jiro, and Saburo moved out of the orphanage and got a tiny apartment that Ichiro had to work several jobs to afford. Feeling guilty for hating their older brother for so long, Jiro and Saburo took it upon themselves to help him by handing out newspapers without telling Ichiro. One day, they caught their old bully, older Samejima, robbing an old woman’s house. They followed him to a building where they hid in a locker and watched the scene from inside. They listened as Ichiro also arrived on the scene and began rap-battling Samejima. But Ichiro nearly lost, so Jiro and Saburo burst out of the locker, grabbed some mics, and helped Ichiro defeat older Samejima and his younger brother.
